VACCINATIONS FOR CHILDREN

We provide the full range of vaccinations here at the Moore Medical Practice, with the exception of BCG and separated MMR. Childhood vaccinations are administered according to the recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer and Department of Health, indicated in the tables below. More information is available here. It is always advisable to enquire before coming for vaccinations as some vaccines have to be ordered in advance and may not be in stock. HPV VACCINE – GARDASIL

The Gardasil vaccine provides protection against HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). At the practice we give Gardasil-9 which protects against nine strains of HPV, which are linked with cervical, vaginal and vulval cancers in women, anal cancer in men and genital warts. It is considered a safe and highly effective vaccination, and immunity lasts for many years, possibly for life. The Gardasil Vaccine is recommended for both boys and girls aged 12-13 years. It is given as a one-off dosage. Gardasil can also be given in later teenage years and adulthood, although vaccination beyond the age of 26 is at the discretion of your doctor. After vaccination, it is still essential for women to have regular smear tests from the age of 20 years, or 2 years after the first sexual contact.
